why i chose natural fibres for olive mae.
When I first started dreaming about Olive Mae, I knew the clothes had to feel as good as they looked. I didn’t just want dresses and skirts that looked beautiful, I wanted pieces you’d actually want to live in. The kind you reach for on an ordinary Tuesday morning because they’re comfortable, breathable, and easy.
That’s why I chose natural fibres.
Cotton and linen have a softness and breathability that synthetic fabrics just can’t match. They move with you, they let your skin breathe, and they age beautifully. On a hot summer’s day, natural fibres keep you cool. On a busy day running around after kids, they don’t feel heavy or clingy.

One of my goals with Olive Mae is to create pieces you’ll wear again and again. Natural fibres hold up to life, the washes, the wear, the moments in between. Instead of pilling or feeling worn out after a few wears, cotton and linen soften and get better with time.
Choosing natural fabrics was also about responsibility. We live in a world where fast fashion is everywhere, and so many clothes are made with cheap synthetic fibres that end up in landfill. Natural fibres are biodegradable, renewable, and simply kinder to the earth.
But maybe the biggest reason is this: natural fibres just feel different. They carry a weight, a softness, a texture that makes you want to slow down. They make me feel calmer, more beautiful (without the effort) and they are timeless.
At Olive Mae, every piece is designed to fit into your real, everyday life. Using natural fibres is one of the ways I make sure that when you slip on a dress or skirt, you don’t just look beautiful, you feel it too.
